"That's a fact!"

A simple piece of foam under the unit solved that. In fact I can hear the bubbles from the water more than the pump itself. Yes it obviously makes some noise-but not at all as much as I was anticipating. It still works internally, but no air. Once, the water in this tank backflowed into the unit. Save some money by not having to replace your air pumps every year! I currently have it in a closet to grow aquatic plants and brine shrimp.

This one is far better than I anticipated! It makes the perfect size bubbles and the fish love it. I'd say this pump would be loud if it were used in the same room as you. The pump works very well in my 75G tank. I have been in the hobby for 20+ years and this is the best air pump! Buzzing, humming, vibrating- they were driving me nuts! Once, the water in this tank backflowed into the unit.

Just bought and started using it a few days ago. Buzzing, humming, vibrating- they were driving me nuts! My first one may have been a lemon. I had to use valves to reduce the output. Pump is basically silent when both airlines are attached. After 3 weeks, I received a new one in the mail. And one to the additional accessories for extra oxygen output only.

It makes the perfect size bubbles and the fish love it. Apparently the dome shape plays a significant role in noise reduction. This is the second pump I have bought in the series. I cleaned the sponge and hooked it all back up, hardly any air was coming out. I was currently using 2 Whispers and they were anything but whispering. The pressure isn't as great as I hoped. It really is pretty quiet- once you unclog the air pathway.

In fact I can hear the bubbles from the water more than the pump itself. The pump works very well in my 75G tank. It's the second one of this model I’ve owned. This is the second pump I have bought in the series. I was wrong it has enough power to run all 9 with air to spare. I'd say this pump would be loud if it were used in the same room as you. It just sounds like a large freezer.

I'm using it for small start-up hydroponic system. Works well in my 75 gal tank running a 36 inch bubble stick! I have 3 of them on different surfaces. Overall seems like a good air pump. Though the 18W model isn't so loud that it can only be used outside. And there are fixes around all of it. It still works internally, but no air.

I was going to buy 3 small air pumps to power 9 sponge filters when I saw this pump. The first time I ordered this product, it did not work properly. Sometimes stopping all together if the water is full. A white tail deer can hear a whisper 75 yards away! Don't be startled if you test it without oxygen tubes, It is Very noisy! I have it running 8 different sponge filters at high rate! Not to mention tank depth, etc becomes a factor. Works well in my 75 gal tank running a 36 inch bubble stick! The motor was working but air was not moving. I have it running on 55g with 2 sponge filters for my Axolotl tank. Ordered this air pump to replace one of my other pumps and the difference is amazing. So I completely disassembled the sponge holder.

The air being pumped out can be quite warm as well. One of the best pump design I've own. For the money, this air pump cannot be beat. I'm not going to knock the product for my own paranoia though. The rubber bottom feet really help to keep the unit quite and in one place. Seems very well built, does as advertised. This happened to me with this unit.

A simple piece of foam under the unit solved that. I'd say this pump would be loud if it were used in the same room as you. Colbert, the reviewer above, for explaining how to do this. I put a wire tie Tightly over the tube and barbs and it's perfect. I set up 2 more and still all the control valve are not open 100%. But this one has no noticeable sounds. If it craps out anytime soon, I'll update the review.
