"Its AMAZING."DO NOT CLEAN OR WASH the paper wheel itself. I've think I've had had six of them. I was worried about some of the negative reviews. The bacteria eats the nitrates in the water to help keep it clean. Replace activated carbon every 6-8 months ish. Oscars are very messy fish, especially during feeding. I've looked at so many filters and reviews.

"One piece of advice."My box came in good condition, parts where in tact and new. With the 350's inexpensive price point, you can’t go wrong with this powerful filter. I use Marinelands refillable cartridge for extra carbon on the extra slots. Early on it seems to be working as advertised. That water got so dirty we had to keep changing it every 2 or 3 days. Fill up the media slot with water until it's full. Not sure what I'll do with the more complex design.

"SAME THING!"Lightly clean the silver roller pins on the ends. It's easy to clean and we all know about easy. It sounds like a Big Air pump buzzing. Following morning it was running quietly. It started out silent for about 30 mins and then it got super loud. I thought that U had put it together wrong so I took it all apart and started over. I had a lot of particles in the water.

Fill up the media slot with water until it's full. My fish are definitely happier and my water is crystal clear. Once I found that, the world was right again. Never ever ever use it past a year.

"A THUMBS UP."I can hear it 3 rooms away grinding away. Worst case is that the motor could burn out. They are easily found from mom-n-pop pet stores to large chain stores. All in all, I highly recommend this filter and I'm a extremely happy customer! Just rinse them out once a month, don't throw that beneficial bacteria away. A canister or in tank filter is ten times more work and messy. However, lately I've purchased the Aqua Clear 70 and 50.

"No effect."I recently upgraded from a 10 gallon aquarium to a 29 gallon. A canister or in tank filter is ten times more work and messy. Clean the foam insert apparently it pulled a lot of dirt and needs cleaned. It wasn't producing much surface agitation. Get it and take heed to what I wrote. Get it and take heed to what I wrote. "+Great price."LOW and BEHOLD, LMAO, I missed where you had to put water in the back of the filter. So, easy is good, both for us and our fish. I wasn't able to fill my tank fully because there was little to no surface agitation. I want to answer some of the complaints I've read. They can be very noisy at the impeller, which sometimes quiets in time, but may not. I've think I've had had six of them. I also don't like how short the intake tube is.

"Water crystal clear."I liked the clean lined look and the pull out basket. They are simply the best design for nitrifying bacteria to grow on. I used a small pair of pliers and carefully got the pebbles out. Overall I would recommend this item. I'd highly recommend not replacing the bio material& sponge, ever. I contacted Marineland about my issue and they promptly sent me a new one right away! This one is working perfectly good FOR RIGHT NOW.

"Yeah, no no no!"There is a sound from the water shooting into the tank! Never ever ever use it past a year. I had originally got one for my 75 Gallon tank housing an Oscar. It started out silent for about 30 mins and then it got super loud. Fill up the media slot with water until it's full. I'm a mechanical engineer and understand design. "I like the design."You'll want to pull that water from the bottom. I will pick 3-4 of these at one time over a single system any day. Overall, I'm very happy with this filter. I plan to cycle this new AC 50 on a separate tank and then xfer it to the 20 gallon. This filter comes with a sponge, activated carbon, and bio material in a mesh bag. Oscars are very messy fish, especially during feeding. Therefore, you wouldnt have 2 filters running.

"Great price."I returned the Aqua Clear 70 and promptly received a replacement. It's only rated at 25 gph less, but holds considerably less media. I put it together, reading instructions of course. Really happy with the money I was able to save. I wasn't able to fill my tank fully because there was little to no surface agitation. Once it loses its charge, you'll need to replace it. I used to have a 37 gallon eclipse aquarium.

"Works great."I will never buy any other HOB no matter what deal they might be offering. Now I'm having the same issue with the Aqua Clear 50. I'd highly recommend not replacing the bio material& sponge, ever. Following morning it was running quietly. I've think I've had had six of them. "The product itself."I've looked at so many filters and reviews. I have always used Marineland filters and been happy with them and their quality. Your fish and you will be much happier and stun everyone else. This is not my first experience with a marineland filter. They can be very noisy at the impeller, which sometimes quiets in time, but may not. I was using a Tetra in-tank filter previously. My tank was a mess when I got this pump.
