"It just starts right up."

LOW and BEHOLD, LMAO, I missed where you had to put water in the back of the filter. There is a sound from the water shooting into the tank! Early on it seems to be working as advertised. Replace activated carbon every 6-8 months ish. The ability to regulate the flow solves the loud waterfall problem. BUT after some YouTube research I was able to fix the noise issue. A canister or in tank filter is ten times more work and messy.

Never ever ever use it past a year. I was worried about some of the negative reviews. I liked the clean lined look and the pull out basket. First they are simple and designed to pump and filter aquarium water. I used to work as a marine biologist for a major state aquarium. Overall, I like the 350's slim back design, and be able to add up to 4 cartridges. It's easy to clean and we all know about easy.

My tank was a mess when I got this pump. All in all, I highly recommend this filter and I'm a extremely happy customer! You do have to unplug it for those two jobs. The instructions are a bit to much for me. This is a well designed unit and a lot of bang for the buck. I was worried about some of the negative reviews. If that does not work, look into silicone grease so you can lube the impeller.

I'm a mechanical engineer and understand design. Early on it seems to be working as advertised. A canister or in tank filter is ten times more work and messy. I attempted to clean and lube the impeller, but to no avail. It's only rated at 25 gph less, but holds considerably less media. I wasn't able to fill my tank fully because there was little to no surface agitation. DO NOT CLEAN OR WASH the paper wheel itself.

My baby turtle even loves it so much he won't let go. I wasn't able to fill my tank fully because there was little to no surface agitation. I've been researching so many things on how to take care of them. This filter really does a good job. Controlling the flow rate doesn't require modifying the filter. The Marineland penguin 350 is a great filter. Clean the foam insert apparently it pulled a lot of dirt and needs cleaned.

Really happy with the money I was able to save. I checked and cleaned it and still just as loud. Also the maker should review the pump design. I have purchased several Aqua Clear filters over the years.

I'm currently in the process of receiving another replacement on that model. Worst case is that the motor could burn out. I have always used Marineland filters and been happy with them and their quality. Worst case is that the motor could burn out. Once I found that, the world was right again. Once it loses its charge, you'll need to replace it. The filter stopped working all of a sudden.

Overall I would recommend this item. Marineland bio pumps have been around forever. Lightly clean the silver roller pins on the ends. SO, I sat down and read EVERY little thing in rhe instructions. I have the topfin 29 gallon tank and used the HOB filter it came with. I AM IMPRESSED THAT IT WORKS AS IT ACTUALLY SHOULD! I own 3 of these and besides my canister they are my favorite filters.

The bacteria eats the nitrates in the water to help keep it clean. I DONT KNOW WHY MANY THINK THIS IS A NOISY FILTER. This filter has is a very simple and efficient design. Overall I would recommend this item. Basically, make sure everything that is suppose to spin, does so smoothly. You CAN rinse the old ones in an emergency. I was worried that it might be too much for my aquarium or that it would be loud.

Overall, I like the 350's slim back design, and be able to add up to 4 cartridges. Following morning it was running quietly. Works like a dream and can't even hear it! Firstly, I'd recommend taking the motor apart and putting it back together. You do have to unplug it for those two jobs. I was worried about some of the negative reviews. I used a small pair of pliers and carefully got the pebbles out.
