"Debris gets sucked up."Do what I did, and do, and so many others have stated in their reviews. Maybe if another piece was included to attach to the right after the shutoff. My previous gravel vacuum from Petco was horrible. Gets under decorations between plants and in corners. I did have to cut one of the tubes to make it a little shorter but that was easy. I just pump the water directly into my sump. In saying that I get build up of solids in certain parts of my tank.

"The primer pump works."I wish i had bought this the first time. Using a bucket to remove old water and then fill up bucket with new water. Within a half an hour my tank almost looked brand new. The hardest thing to do is wrap up the cord to store it after use. I did have to cut one of the tubes to make it a little shorter but that was easy. I learned that the best control was to shorten the device as much as possible. I wish i had bought this the first time.

"Another tip."I have never cleaned the rocks or changed the water in my aquarium so effortlessly. It got clogged a few times and i had to take it to the sink and run water through it. I have a 20 gallon long tank at floor level. It kept coming off and made a mess on the floor. It did however do a better job than the gravel vac i was using before. I hope that I do not need another but I would purchase again without hesitation. It just takes a little bit of trial and error on your part.

"Lesson learned."I would definitely recommend this product. It doesn't do as good a job cleaning the gravel like a gravity suction siphon. I would get suction for a few seconds and then it would trickle to nothing. So I use the NICREW power vac in between water changes and it works great! Using a bucket to remove old water and then fill up bucket with new water. I like the fact it is not draining the water when you vacuum. I love this setup and how easy it was to use.
