"Becareful not to do this!"It will suck up a little bit of sand, which is expected and acceptable. So, I bought a 20 gallon long and transferred them from the 10 gallon. I lose about 5 gallons a week due to evaporation. I've done the siphon vacuum attempts with 3 different products. If you have a HUGE tank, though, it will tank you a while. Returned, but agreed to try another one. This electric gravel vac was the best solution for my set up.

"Still working great."And the price is more than reasonable. I learned that the best control was to shorten the device as much as possible. I also found that the angled attachment clogged way easy. I knew siphoning would be an issue,. I was worried I would have to keep unplugging and plugging in through out cleaning. I would definitely recommend this product. My tank was beyond maintenance work with alot of decay and algae.

"Sweat and hardwork."In saying that I get build up of solids in certain parts of my tank. If you've never used a gravel vac, get this product and watch a YouTube video. It kept coming off and made a mess on the floor. Prolly also easier to use with larger hands. This thing does both at the same time and quickly. It's easy to put together, easy to use, easy to clean. It just takes a little bit of trial and error on your part.

"Research tank set up."It got clogged with a small plastic container that got caught in the disposal. The bucket clamp also doesn't work very well. Wasted an entire morning taking it apart, checking everything etc. The water gets filtered in the chamber and then RETURNED BACK TO THE TANK! I'm thinking of other ways this could be used! This hose would be over kill for 20 gals or less but I have 40 gal tanks. At first I was furious with this thing.

"They are very well made."I found that it's difficult to use. I have a glass bottom aquarium with no substrate. Python overkill for that size but it has it's place. If, like me, you can't get suction going on a low-tech vacuum, get this thing! I should have believed the other reviews. I do not write a ton of reviews but I HAVE to review this amazing time saver! I would recommend this due to the fantastic job it has provided for my needs.

"Finally, I found this."You won't go wrong with this product. The telescoping tube will extent to permit a larger tank to be effectively cleaned. I only needed 2 pumps to get the flow going. I have several divided tanks and I struggle to get the normal syphon in to clean. I've gone though dozens of aquarium cleaning gadgets and products over the years. The bucket clamp also doesn't work very well. This electric gravel vac was the best solution for my set up.

"Hope this helps someone."I have gone through two others and they lasted about a month. I had a couple of problems as it was the first time I have used anything like this. The only draw back, wish it came with a longer hose or attachment to make it longer. I should have believed the other reviews. This little tool helped so much my bare bottom tank looks great again. "This works really well."So after I received my replacement tool, i did a water change with it. If it isnt working for you, try without the micro pad in and do a great clean. I found that it's difficult to use. It has adjustable flow as well which helps between my gravel tank and sand tank. Ohh I also use it to add water to my system. I did have to cut one of the tubes to make it a little shorter but that was easy. It filters out the solids and returns the water to the tank.

"It's so easy."Most of the poop just sits on the top the sand substrate in my tank. If, like me, you can't get suction going on a low-tech vacuum, get this thing! Its made the water changes on my 55 gallon and 20 tall so easy. What I love about this is the water return function. Wash the sponge out a few times and then add the micro. We have a snapping turtle and I was having to clean his tank 2-3 times a month. Makes cleaning my daughter's turtle tank much, much easier.

It doesn't do as good a job cleaning the gravel like a gravity suction siphon. I gotta say tho that it's really powerful. The water gets filtered in the chamber and then RETURNED BACK TO THE TANK! Next time, I'll lay towels down around the tank. It would get clogged with leaves and such but that's expected.
