"They love it!"I never did get around to switching to gravel. All three are inert; therefore, they do not affect ph. Just don't dump the water in the drain as its bad if sand is stuck in the drains! If you are starting a new tank, this is the one that I would recommend. The item is as pictured and described. This is the easiest sand and gravel I've ever cleaned. I used to use the bigger gravel, but wanted to change it up.

"I hope it goes away soon."This filled a fair thin layer over half my elongated 35 gallon tank. I'm setting up another tank and this will be the substrate. The sand causes bubbles to remain on top of the water too. A simple pass with a siphon hose removes most all of the waste. Just be smarter than me about it and you'll be very happy with the product. We used regular tap water and water from our main tank. The sand does look nice and comes to you clean, it'll only take a minute to wash.

"Arrived well."It helps eliminate deadly ammonia spikes. I will need 3 more bags if I want a thicker 1 inch layer to fill my entire tank. Take my advice, which I got from someone else, and buy a mini gravel vacuum. But that is also something to consider with all sands. Use the strongest, most focused nozzle you have. I'm probably only going to use this brand from now on. But that is also something to consider with all sands.

"It worked like a charm."I've had it in my aquarium now for just about 24 hours and cycling. Plants are easy to plant in it as well. This was a very nice sand and I enjoyed it very much! Except for and axolotl owner this Sand is veryyy hard to keep clean! When adding water, no dust, no mess. Take my advice, which I got from someone else, and buy a mini gravel vacuum. "Just be careful."I think it's probably OK to use without any washing, as it says on the bag. They keep the surface of my sand looking pretty and white. This sand is beautiful and incredibly soft! Plant tanks require high light levels. That is why I chose the Hydor Koralia Nano 240. The bag is small, but the quality of sand is good. I never did get around to switching to gravel.

"Really good stuff."I thought it was soap, but it's not. Doing that it should be clean enough to put in your tank and not cloud up your water. Really nice appearance in the tank, looks very authentic. Cleaning it was easy and I just followed the directions on the bag. Come to find out the sand is somewhat dirty. Kind of sharp sand, not the soft smooth kind. Dumped sand in bucket and let water overflow get rid of the floating stuff.

"Just some dust."Almost like a sparkle, but not bright. Color in the pic looks pretty true to the real thing. But like everything else, you have to make choices and compromises. Good thing I'm not in a rush so it will have time to settle. And it is not recommended that you rinse it out. I added my snail and fish within about 12 hours and everyone is happy. Clear water, no chemical issues and makes the tank look sparkling clean.

"Bottom line."If you have bright lights, algae will grow on this sand. Within the bag, you will find two small packets. If I remember correctly, it's normal for new sand to do this. A simple pass with a siphon hose removes most all of the waste. If you are slack on maintenance, pick a darker sand. Color in the pic looks pretty true to the real thing. If it clears up I'll try to remember to do an update review.

"Somewhat tricky to clean."This sand is almost exactly like the beach in Destin, FL. This could very well be the perfect substrate, except for one thing. Just cleaned the 5 lbs in a 5 gal bucket in the bath tub. Some people might have time to, but I do not. Just be smarter than me about it and you'll be very happy with the product. You probably need more if you are planning on planting live plants. Come to find out the sand is somewhat dirty.

"This is a nice size sand."But I have to give it to this sand. I toss the cloudy water into the streets instead. This sand is almost exactly like the beach in Destin, FL. It has cleared up but still a little cloudy. I have a 50 gallon established freshwater tank. I was nervous about converting my freshwater tank substrate from gravel to sand. The water was clear by the next day.
