"Great substrate."

Not too white, more a beige-grey color. Color in the pic looks pretty true to the real thing. Good thing I'm not in a rush so it will have time to settle. The Estes sand came highly recommended. The light color is really pretty and makes it easy to spot various critters. 10 weeks in and I have four tanks going. Cleaning it was easy and I just followed the directions on the bag.

"I have no complaints."

But if you want actual fine sand might not be what your looking for. Then swirled and dumped what didn't sink immediately. The water was clear by the next day. I received this aquarium sand yesterday. It's absolutely beautiful and I'm very pleased with it. The sand looks more natural and clean. If you get this sand rinse it, I cannot stress that enough, rinse it.

"More like micro gravel."

Color in the pic looks pretty true to the real thing. But like everything else, you have to make choices and compromises. It is slightly finer and it hides algae very well. Dont force yourself to look at a boring bare bottom tank! Highly recommend, found out about it on YouTube. I love this substrate, I use it for my betta& goldfish tanks and it looks great. I did lots of research on the subject and decided to make the leap.

"Will purchase again."

I've had it in my aquarium now for just about 24 hours and cycling. The grain size will range from fine to medium. All three are inert; therefore, they do not affect ph. Use the strongest, most focused nozzle you have. No need to rinse before putting in aquarium. Take my advice, which I got from someone else, and buy a mini gravel vacuum. I think it's probably OK to use without any washing, as it says on the bag.

"He digs holes."

The sand arrived dry, I'm still unclear if that's how it was supposed to arrive. If you can keep your tank clean, this is perfect for you. Used to have a dark substrate but decided to change to this. Just be smarter than me about it and you'll be very happy with the product. It looks great and it's super quality. I have yet to do a water change, but I do not anticipate any problems. Kind of sharp sand, not the soft smooth kind.

"Sand is beautiful."

I bought the Sunset Gold color and it is a beautiful sand. This sand is almost exactly like the beach in Destin, FL. Mine play and frolic constantly, leaving happy little trails all over the tank. Will never use ugly waste trapping gravel again! This torpedo beach sand is wonderful. It has cleared up but still a little cloudy. The grain size will range from fine to medium.

But like everything else, you have to make choices and compromises. Was frustrating but nobody's fault but mine. I went ahead and used it without rinsing it, which was a mistake. Then swirled and dumped what didn't sink immediately. I'm probably only going to use this brand from now on. Dumped sand in bucket and let water overflow get rid of the floating stuff. It's absolutely beautiful and I'm very pleased with it.

"Just some dust."

This is the easiest sand and gravel I've ever cleaned. Really nice appearance in the tank, looks very authentic. Plants are easy to plant in it as well. If it clears up I'll try to remember to do an update review. This sand is nice and heavy, and has a nice shine to it. My goldfish seems much happier and will dig and siphon the sand. I toss the cloudy water into the streets instead.

"Oh, and one other thing."

My mystery snails and Malaysian trumpets love it too! I will need 3 more bags if I want a thicker 1 inch layer to fill my entire tank. Do that over and over till the water finally is clear in the bucket. It's what I did with the sand I had left over that I'm using in my smaller tank. Dumped sand in bucket and let water overflow get rid of the floating stuff. I bought it primarily because I purchased five assassin snails and the love sand. I used to use the bigger gravel, but wanted to change it up. I never did get around to switching to gravel. It's what I did with the sand I had left over that I'm using in my smaller tank. There are two versions of the Crystal River Sand from Caribsea. Just cleaned the 5 lbs in a 5 gal bucket in the bath tub. If you get this sand rinse it, I cannot stress that enough, rinse it.
