Product does NOT come with required AA batteries. Taping a piece of ribbon in place worked out better. The barrel with the food spins at each specified feeding time. Don't lose the instructions or you'll go crazy trying to program it. However, this is not a good fit for that purpose. I tried his usual food pellets and quickly decided that they would not work at all. Suitable for locating anywhere on the tank ledge.

You can make it work with these, but you need to be careful. It lead to a lot of inconsistency and failures till I got it right. I have a 75 gallon tank, and removed a 1. The slider door does not move on its own during rotations. It has a button you can press to do a manual feeding. I figure it holds enough for about 5 days at the current feeding rate. It also allow multiple feeding option and times.

I figured too much food was better than too little. 3-second Long Press on rightmost button turns feeder on and off. It's been two weeks and Betta Boy has figured out who feeds him now. Overall, this product has been great. Consistent food size is the key to more consistent results. I have not, however, tested it with pelleted food. So far I have only used flake food in it, but it's handling it just fine.

I feed small pellet food, about the size of sand. I mix Omega One Color and Tetra Color flake foods in a ziplock bag. It takes 3 presses of the set button to move to the 3rd feeding time. This would have been a great investment when I started my aquarium 30 years ago. Another nice feature is the feeder will rotate on its screw attachment base. The unit arrived partially charged. Overall, this product has been great.

The size of the food compartment is huge depending on the number of fish you have. Took me all of 5 minutes start to finish to get it set up. I did a couple test pours into a plastic bag so I could get it just right. He and his wife travel to India to see his in-laws. I have the Stage 2 round pellet feed. The unit arrived partially charged. The size of the tank is too small to recommend.

I tried his usual food pellets and quickly decided that they would not work at all. You can tell it how many times you want it to spin, up to 3, I think.
