Maybe easier to cut.
Nice that the seller called to ensure a good fit before shipping. Perfect fit for older aquarium's with thicker center piece and sides. It is flat and sleek, the led lights are fantastic. Bought one for a 10 gal Tetra aquarium. I bought this tank hood and I have never been happier. I bought this after the marine-land LED lid failed on me. I went through many reviews before buying this lid.

Im so happy and in love.
Words cannot explain how much I adore this! I bought this hood to replace the glass ones I had. Picture shows the one I did receive. I previously had a tank hood that took the long florescent bulbs. Aquariums are less standard than you might think. If you measure your openings carefully, it will fit. It installed easily and looks great.
