So far so good!
Once I got the opening where I wanted it, things have gone great. I would rather overbuy than underbuy. The only other thing that you should be aware of is the large size of the unit. I like the fact this uses batteries and not a cable. He and his wife travel to India to see his in-laws. There were a few cheaper feeders that I considered. It's been two weeks and Betta Boy has figured out who feeds him now.

Works great.
There is a small sliding door that allows the food to escape. Also don't leave the USB port connected to a charger all the time. The pellets stick to the tape and slowly build up clogging the hole. My son loves this automatic fish feeder. Finally, I can take a vacation without worrying about who to ask to feed my fish. I do get food on the edges of the opening which I push in later for the fish. I have not, however, tested it with pelleted food.
