Customizable in terms of media used. I double the size and fold them and put the bagged carbon between the layers. Better than branded media filters cartridges. Don't shut it off for more than a few minutes at a time. Fish that are constantly swimming hard will tire and die from stress. It's also a pretty substantial roll. I purchase the 8 pack size Large and fits great on my TopFin 40 Gallon Filter.
