I use a 50 for a 5 gal and a 10 gal tank. I used to try those other cheap heaters sold on amazon. I will be ordering more of these in the future. Temperature is slightly off by running a little warmer. I adjusted the set temperature a little lower to be more in the range I wanted. Easy enough to let it run all the time. It comes with a hanging kit and can be secured on the edge of the tank.
