Put these in my outdoor pond because my fish often eat the live ones. I soaked both plants in a bucket of warm water overnight before adding to the tank. The plants are plastic but very soft! Burt the beta needed a place where he could go and relax. This is a very nice aquarium plant. I wouldn't recommend these for a betta tank or fish with long fins. Also scaping in this way gives me a lot more options for a lower price.
